Pepper prices today, October 15, 2022, in the world are showing a slight downward trend. Meanwhile, domestic pepper prices have stagnated, purchasing around 59,500 – 62,000 VND/kg. In the world market, Pepper prices today are still fluctuating in opposite directions compared to yesterday. The world black pepper commodity has turned down in Indonesia and remained stable in other countries. Accordingly, the price of black pepper Lampung (Indonesia) decreased by 0.22%, to 3,714 USD/ton. Meanwhile, the price of black pepper Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA remained at 5,100 USD/ton. The price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 also continued to anchor at 2,600 USD/ton. For white pepper, the Indonesian market increased slightly and remained stable in Malaysia. Specifically, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased by 0.20% to USD 6,011/ton. Meanwhile, the price of Malaysian ASTA white pepper remained at USD 7,300/ton. In India, the increasing import of pepper from other producing countries is said to have affected the prospects of domestically produced goods, due to the availability and lower prices in consuming markets. Traders pointed out that pepper prices in producing countries have started to decline, averaging around USD 2,500-2,600/ton in Brazil, USD 3,000/ton in Vietnam and USD 5,000/ton in Sri Lanka. Of these, Brazilian and Vietnamese varieties are finding their way into the Indian market under false declarations either as cotton waste or paper waste. This imported item is available in all domestic markets at Rs 490-495 per kg, while Indian pepper is priced at Rs 490 per kg. With GST and freight, the price will be around Rs 515 per kg. According to traders, the daily supply at the wholesale market has come down and is on an average 10-12 tonnes.
