Pepper prices today, October 2, in the domestic market decreased by 500 VND/kg in Binh Phuoc. Last week, domestic pepper prices lost 2,000 VND/kg compared to last week. In the world market, Pepper prices today were stable compared to yesterday. Accordingly, Indonesian Lampung black pepper was 3,827 USD/ton; Indian black pepper was 6,316 USD/ton; Malaysian black pepper and Vietnamese black pepper were stable at 5,900 USD/ton and 3,350 USD/ton, respectively, Brazilian black pepper was stable at 2,650 USD/ton. With white pepper, Vietnamese white pepper decreased sharply by 4,900 USD/ton. Along with domestic pepper prices, pepper prices in the world market continuously decreased last week. Notably, on the last day of September 2022, the International Pepper Community adjusted the export prices of black and white pepper from Vietnam. Accordingly, the export price of 500g/l black pepper decreased by 50 USD/ton, to 3,300 USD/ton; the export price of 550g/l black pepper decreased by 200 USD, to 3,400 USD/ton; the sharpest decrease was the price of white pepper, losing 400 USD/ton, to 4,900 USD/ton. This was predicted when this organization kept the export price of Vietnamese pepper unchanged for quite a long time, while domestic pepper prices continuously decreased and the USD was still the strongest in more than 20 years. However, the sharp decrease of 400 USD/ton as with white pepper made the market somewhat shocked, due to the sharp decline. Currently, the USD is turning down after setting a record high in the middle of the week. And this has created momentum for most Asian currencies to recover slightly. However, these currencies are still trading near multi-year lows, due to expectations of further USD appreciation in the future.
