VFA recommends that Mekong Delta localities support businesses in selling rice to farmers

The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) has just sent a dispatch requesting the People’s Committees of the Mekong Delta (MD) localities to support food enterprises in connecting production areas to consume the 2021 summer-autumn rice crop that is in full harvest. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Chairman of VFA, said that the MD localities have started the main harvest of the 2021 summer-autumn rice crop. However, 19 southern provinces and cities are implementing social distancing across the province and city according to Directive 16 of the Prime Minister, causing great impacts on the purchase, production and processing of rice. VFA requested the MD localities to coordinate and create the most favorable conditions for the consumption of commercial rice among the people, support enterprises in connecting production areas and ensuring timely transportation of fresh rice from the fields to the drying factory. VFA also requested the People’s Committees of the MD localities to support the synthesis of information on harvest time in rice growing areas of each locality. Because, this helps VFA promptly notify rice exporters in each locality so that they can directly consume rice for farmers when needed. VFA will provide a list of traders qualified to export rice in each locality. Updated data released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as of March 23, 2021 shows a total of 207 enterprises. Of which, in the Mekong Delta region alone, An Giang province has 21 enterprises; Bac Lieu 2, Dong Thap 19, Hau Giang 2, Kien Giang 7, Long An 25, Soc Trang 3, Tien Giang 8, Can Tho 44, Tra Vinh 1 and Vinh Long province has 6 enterprises. ************************************************ Thank you everyone for taking the time to watch the channel’s videos.
